For Your Guests…

A beautifully-presented wedding invitation goes a long way in communicating the mood of your wedding to your guests. It is also an indication of the effort you are putting into making this day truly memorable, not just for you and your partner, but also for your guests. A thoughtfully designed invitation that is both creative an unique will set your wedding apart from others, especially if your guests may have been invited to more than one wedding on the same day!

Here are some things to remember when compiling your guest list and sending your invitations :

  • You should both draw up separate lists before combining them. Divide the list into different categories for family, close friends, parents’ guests, business associates, etc. Then, start cutting down the number of people on the list.
  • It is customary for one invitation to account for two guests if the person you are inviting is married or has a significant other. But do not feel obligated to invite single guests to bring a date. Some invitations may extend to entire families, including children. If you prefer not to have children at your party, your wedding professional will be able to help you word your invitations accordingly without offending your guests. Alternative, you may have a separate corner at your party for children.
  • On average, 20-30 percent of invited guests will send their regrets, so you may decide to send a second mailing of invitations. Your final guest list should be confirmed after the RSVP date, but do set extra seats for unexpected guests.
  • Include helpful information in your invites such as maps, places to stay, contact information of the bride’s and groom’s parents, etc.
  • Mail you invitations 3-6 months before your wedding and finalize your guest list about a month before your wedding.
  • Make sure you have written your guests’ names and addresses correctly on the invitations. A small error may result in a lost invite!
